Before each use, make sure that the tester is in proper working order by testing a known working circuit that is within the rating of this unit. When the tip of the tester lights, it means voltage exists. If there is no indication there could still be voltage present. Do not rely on this unit with shielded wire. Operation may be affected by difference in socket design and insulation thickness and type.
